1- Introduction
Purl stitch is used to create fabrics. It produces the same kind of pattern as the knit stitch.
2- The hold
Hold the empty needle in your dominant hand and the needle with the cast on in your non dominant hand.
3- X
Insert the empty needle into the first cast on stitch from the front making an X.
4- Wrap yarn
Make sure the working end of the yarn is in front of the needles. Wrap this yarn around the empty needle from the back to the front in an anti-clockwise direction.
5- Push the needle
Hold the wrapped around working end of the yarn with the needle. Push the needle in the dominant hand down and towards the needle in your non-dominant hand.
6- Grab the yarn in the middle
Slide the needle out of the loop while grabbing the yarn in the middle.
7- Slide off the stitch
Slide off the stitch from the needle in your non-dominant hand.
8- Next row
Simply switch hands at the end of row 1 so the empty needle is again in your dominant hand. Continue making purl stitches in the same way.
